What is ACS - Technical description

  • ACS is built on Tailscale, a zero-trust networking layer that provides secure, private connectivity between Functionize test engines and customer environments.
  • Tailscale leverages the WireGuard® protocol for lightweight, high-performance, end-to-end encrypted tunnels.
  • No inbound ports required — all communication is initiated outbound, simplifying firewall and proxy traversal.
  • Operates seamlessly through NATs, firewalls, and corporate proxies using standard outbound HTTPS (TCP 443) and UDP (41641, 3478).
  • Automatic peer discovery and encrypted routing via Tailscale’s coordination servers (login.tailscale.com, controlplane.tailscale.com).
  • Direct peer-to-peer connections when possible, with encrypted fallback via DERP relays when direct paths are blocked.
  • Zero network reconfiguration — deploy an ACS agent within your LAN or DMZ and connect securely without VPN infrastructure.
  • End-to-end encryption at the transport layer ensures Functionize test traffic remains fully isolated from external or intermediary systems.
